Studio Techniques

Every painting presents a different challenge, and the techniques I use often depend on what I'm trying to achieve. Color, texture, layering, blending, composition, and small details all play a part in bringing an idea to life.

Over the years, I've worked with acrylics, pastels, pencils, charcoal, mixed media, and other creative approaches. Each medium behaves differently and offers its own possibilities, which is part of what keeps the creative process interesting.

Here I'll share techniques I use in the studio, experiments that worked—and occasionally those that didn't—and some of the decisions that happen between the beginning of a piece and the finished artwork.
